Wellness for Women Over 40: Part 8

Defining Success Through Effective Communication

· Faith,GodFirst,Success

"If the ax is dull and its edge unsharpened, more strength is needed, but skill will bring success." ~ Ecclesiastes 10:10

Success is relative, what it means to you will be the opposite to someone else. Hence, it is defined by the way you communicate it, act on it and eventually how you become it. So how does one become successful you ask? Well, what if I told you that we all are successful. Yes, we all are successful. You see, as long as we are above ground, we all are successful. Those that are deceased know nothing about success, the emotions that surround the desires to be successful and the ability to determine the depth and breath of success, because they know nothing. So it's only the living that can measure success on their own journey and at some point, realize that no matter the circumstance, rich or poor we all will die one day, and all will be meaningless.

So, the best way to define success is to enjoy life; to purpose to do good with all thy might, breath and soul. Communication is the only way we can be sure that we are on target for accomplishing our goals. The right kind of communication is prayer and thanksgiving. This way of life is purely faith driven and spirit lead. No one can learn how to give thanks, and attract success in a book. It is only by accepting the divine gifts given of God and utilizing them in a way that is pleasing to Him. You see our gifts were meant to give away. Nothing we have are for our own benefit. If that were so then we wouldn't need a world filled with people. This is why God created mankind, so that He can commune with us, and continue a relationship based on divinely inspired communication and daily living. You see, real success is not what you can see outside, but rather what is going on the inside of you. Success begins when you begin to live 100% authentically!

Among his various possible beings each man always finds one which is his genuine and authentic being. The voice which calls him to that authentic being is what we call “vocation.” But the majority of men devote themselves to silencing that voice of the vocation and refusing to hear it. They manage to make a noise within themselves . . . to distract their own attention in order not to hear it; and they defraud themselves by substituting for their genuine selves a false course of life.

—José Ortega y Gasset

Let's make sense of it all here: we all have the capabilities and kinetic energy to do things, but just how good and the value these attributes add to the world to make it better is purely divinely inspired and faith driven. Hence, once we align with God's purpose the best of who we are comes out and thus God is gloried. In the process the world will be blessed, comforted, healed, experience joy and given the hope of a better tomorrow. In other words, our gifts are given by God to bring glory to Him and to seal His people. We are known by our love. We are known by our good works, which glorify God in Heaven.

We are in the right when we choose the right people to partner with, procreate with, and worship with. Which is why success is relative. For not all people understand the process of success, nor desire to learn the correct manner to be succesful. Most people believe that you can learn how to be successful by going to college, reading a book or simply going to church. On the contrary, true success begins when we spend time with God, and are nourished and trained by a person chosen by God to lead us on the path to success. There are laws of success or mastery that govern time, place, and people. When all of these three attributes align, we are said to be on point, on target and assured success.

By communicating positive thoughts back to yourself each day, eventually you will begin to believe them. Positive self talk is necessary at all times. The reason being is that you constantly have that negative self chatter on speed dial, and not to mention the unwanted advice, and opinions of others. It is very necessary that we as women over 40 find that balance as we constantly think that we are not good enough, smart enough, brave enough, pretty enough, or even wealthy enough. I mean why care about all of these things. Don't we know by now how much pressure and stress can truly harm our health and deprive us of true happiness and ultimately having success? Yes, our mindset is key at any age but as we age something happens. It's as if we feel we wasted time, or have a point to prove, hence all of the insecurities, unnecessary procedures, and sadly indulgences in things that are not good for us such as bad foods, alcohol and even recreational drugs take over our lives. Suddenly, the youthful age of 40 is now a sign that the undertaker is near, oh no, enough of all of that. Remember, life begins at 40, (really the day you say yes to the life giving work of the cross, and faith in Jesus Christ) so let's act like it. Let's enjoy the next 40 years and beyond.
